Growing up in country NSW surrounded by both farm and domestic animals has ensured that I am a passionate and devoted animal lover, always willing to go out of my way to help and rescue lost pets and injured wildlife.
For as long as I can remember I have taken in and rehomed lost or abandoned cats and dogs, saved birds, reptiles and rodents from homes, cars and (unfortunately) my cat.
After much research and waiting, two years ago I was fortunate to become completely owned by the ever handsome Winston a smooth chocolate miniature Dachshund although he is more like a tweenie.
I always knew that I had a strong attraction to the Dachshund breed but having Winston in my life has turned this attraction (like most Dachshund owners) into complete obsession. I truly admire their distinctive personalities and funny little traits, their loyalty to their owners and “sometimes” preference to their own breed, their complete naivety to their size and stature, but most of all I love their desire and need to have snuggles and cuddles.
I could think of nothing better than to help precious little Dachshunds find loving new or foster “furever” homes and volunteered myself to Devoted 2 Dachshund Rescue as their new Foster Care Co-Ordinator.
I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before I too become a “failed foster carer” and to be honest… I can’t wait!
