Duke is a 3-year-old red dachshund. He loves to run and play and be around “his” people. He is funny, goofy and affectionate. He had a tough start in life so hasn’t learnt that new people and dogs can be trusted and acts accordingly. He is really intelligent and learns quickly, but needs loads of consistency and firm boundaries to keep him on track. He is extremely energetic and loves nothing better than a boisterous game with an eight-year-old, as long as he has already made friends with the child. Duke needs lots of exercise or his kleptomania and tendency to chew his bedding to shreds takes over. But once Duke decides you are his friend, he will lavish you with love and adoration. Unfortunately, Dukes mum has acquired a debilitating chronic illness that prevents her from giving Duke much exercise and attention. She loves him dearly, but has come to the conclusion that Duke can’t thrive or reach his potential unless he finds a forever family that has patience, a sense of humour and lots of energy. He can make friends with other dogs and is great with school aged children. This goofy guy really deserves a great home that will bring out the best in him.
Desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.
