Murray is a typical 1yr old puppy who wants to play all day. He will chase a ball and chew on his bone toy but his absolute favourite is to play with another Dachshund for hours, and he doesn’t care what age they are. He loves to run & do very fast zoomies! He loves to play with toys but the stuffed ones do not last long as he attempts to gut them…lol.
Since he was surrendered, he has improved heaps in his behaviour in and around the house. He will now sleep in his own bed at night, unless he gets cold or uncovered and then he will come and join you in under the covers in your bed. He does not beg for food anymore and eats anything he is given at meal time.
He does react to every noise and smell he sees or hears. But as long as he feels safe next to you he will just raise his head and then lay back down. If he sees something he will run and bark out a warning to you which is just typical Dachshund behaviour.
He takes a while to get to know every member of the family but once he knows you well, he will try and get you to play chase with him and not bark at you.
He pulls on a lead so walking him can be difficult, especially if he gets the scent of a cat or another dog. He doesn’t like strangers or any other breed of dog or cats at all. He will growl and lung at some people and most dogs and has tried to bite another dog a number of times.
He is a very loving little man who has plenty of kisses to give. He needs a home where there are only 2 people and a dachshund with similar energy levels which would make him very happy.
His way of letting you know he needs to go outside or wants you to play is to bop the door or your leg with his nose. It has been very handy so we know when he needs to go to the toilet as he holds on until you take him out. Very good with toileting.
He loves short trips in the car but doesn’t do well with trips of an hour or more as he gets car sick.
This beautiful boy will make a wonderful companion with a owner who is willing to put in a the time to do a bit of training with him, so if you think he would suit your home please don’t let a few negative behaviours cause you to overlook him.
Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and vet checked as per our Policy.
