Chilli is a delightful 3.5-year-old dachshund. He is healthy (5 kilo) and looking for rehoming. He certainly stands his ground, defending the household against backyard birds and the odd lizard. And never successfully capturing either.
Being a short haired dachshund, he is easy to groom. He loves his toys. Tugging is one of his favourite games.
Chilli is an energetic dog that relates well to people after an introduction. He is splendid at giving and receiving affection. His favourite place to sleep in human company is on your lap, beside you or if you are horizontal on your chest. He wants to be, wherever you are.
Crate trained, Chilli sleeps well in crate and will warn you when he needs to be taken out for 'the necessary'. Chilli would be very happy to sleep on your bed at night, although you may not get much sleep.
He is alert with new visitors, foot traffic, or neighbours backing out of their yards etc. He is increasingly desensitised to the neighbourhood noises. It may be that the new 'Forever Home Parents "should keep him on a lead or a period of time.
Chilli took some time to be introduced to our backyard. He walks well on a lead now. It took a few walks to get him to understand and comply with the ' don't pull on the lead" rule. He now completes short walks with very little problem and no barking.
Chilli understands what is expected of him. He responded well to training, The ideal 'forever home' parent will be patient, and willing to learn themselves just how to continue to train Chilli.
