We are honoured to highlight Dr Alison Shen of Acupuncture Vet, a steadfast supporter of Devoted to Dachshunds Rescue (D2DR) for many years. Dr Alison, who graduated as a veterinarian in 2005 from the University of Sydney, has since honed her expertise in complementary therapies, acupuncture, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. With a Certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture and Clinical Integrative Canine Rehabilitation, Dr Alison brings a wealth of knowledge and a compassionate approach to animal care. Her dedication to providing stress-free veterinary services aligns perfectly with D2DR’s mission to ensure our dachshunds receive the best care possible.

Dr Alison’s practice focuses on treating pets with chronic musculoskeletal conditions such as hip dysplasia, cruciate ligament disease, and intervertebral disc disease. Her holistic approach includes a variety of rehabilitation treatments like laser therapy, therapeutic ultrasound, moxibustion, electroacupuncture, and TENS, all aimed at speeding up recovery and improving quality of life. Many of our dachshunds, including Ricky's beloved Lola, have benefited from her meticulous and empathetic care, particularly those in need of ongoing pain relief and rehabilitation.

Practicing in Brisbane, Queensland, and occasionally in Sydney, New South Wales, Dr Alison is also deeply involved in wildlife rehabilitation and runs the Future Vet Kids Camp with her identical twin sister, Dr Audrey. The twins are well-known faces on Channel Nine’s Bondi Vet, sharing their veterinary journeys with a wide audience. Dr Alison's commitment to creating a stress-free environment for her patients, coupled with her holistic treatment methods, makes her an invaluable partner to D2DR. We are incredibly grateful for her unwavering support and dedication to enhancing the lives of our dachshunds.
