About Lily and Lukey

Lily and Lukey are a loveable senior bonded pair. They love being close to their chosen humans but are content to snuggle close to one another instead. 

Lily is a tenacious and playful dachshund who combines independence with affection whilst Lukey is more chilled but will lap up any attention on offer. 

Both are wonderful companions and have excellent patience and manners with children over 7 years of age.  

Personality Highlights

Lily embraces any opportunity to get outside, and sniff around but also loves to bask in the sun especially in the cooler mornings. She is a kisser  (licker) of the team, whilst Lukey is the cuddler. She tends to be the patroller and leader of the two. She will bark at people and dogs close by, where Lukey will only bark if there is someone at the door briefly – he is quiet most of the time.  

Lukey will be at your side to snuggle as soon as you show you might be ready, and expecting pats. Once you get the right spot he will drop for belly rubs and will stay there as long you wish, almost purring with satisfaction. 

Both dogs will respond instantly to their names and the "come" command. While they can be independent and enjoy exploring the yard on their own, they also love a comfy place to lay and snooze. They sleep in their own beds within a pen and are never in a rush to get out in the mornings. Lukey requires durable toys due to his enthusiastic chewing habits, whilst Lily will only occasionally take part in the destruction of toys – she would much rather wrestle with Lukey instead. 

Current Training Progress

·       House Training: They are mostly house trained, reliably accessing the yard during daytime hours. There have been only a couple of accidents.

·       Lead Skills: They enjoy walks and car rides and are generally well behaved, though they may pull when they catch an interestingscent.

Daily Care

·       Diet: LifeWise ultra premium Dry Dog Food

  • Exercise: Enjoys yard time and regular walks
  • Sleep: Settles well at night, and generally take themselves to bed

·       Behaviour: No food or toy aggression sharing well with each other. Do often play fight with each other, with no aggression (game of dominance)
