Billie’s Story
Billie is a sweet, tiny dachshund girl who has already shown what a loyal and loving companion she can be. She's recently come into care and has settled beautifully in her foster home, where she lives alongside a 7-year-old male dachshund.
True to dachshund form, Billie is affectionate, alert, and a little bit cheeky—she’s got that typical daxie spirit we all know and love. She's ready to find a forever home that understands the breed and can provide her with a safe, loving environment where she can continue to flourish.
Temperament & Personality
- Billie is social and affectionate, forming bonds quickly with her people.
- She's comfortable with visiting children (ages 4–13) and enjoys gentle interaction.
- Like many dachshunds, she has a big bark in a little body and won’t hesitate to alert you when someone arrives—or if a bird dares visit the backyard feeder!
- She's both cuddly and independent and would likely enjoy being the centre of attention as an only dog but has also done well living with another dachshund.
- Great with kids over 4 plus with gentle play
- Like many of her breed, she is not a FAN of cats
Training & Routine
- Sleeping: Crate-trained and sleeps quietly through the night (though she'd love a spot in the big bed if given the chance!).
- Toilet Training: Clean in her crate overnight and waits until let out in the morning.
- Commands: Quick Study and already mastered the basic commands
- Lead Walking: Walks nicely on a lead.
- Meals:
- Breakfast: Raw (chunkers or 3 chicken wing tips)
- Dinner: Home-cooked meal of human-grade chicken or turkey mince, chicken hearts, vegetables (carrot, zucchini, corn, broccoli, cauliflower), rolled oats, and dry biscuits.
Health & Veterinary
- Microchipped
- Vaccinated
- Flea, tick, and worming up to date
- Vet checked (including dental)
- De-sex completed before adoption
Important Notes for Adopters
- Billie is very small and agile—she has a cheeky streak and will try to escape if she spots an opportunity. A secure yard and diligent supervision are essential.
- She’s still young and will benefit from continued training and boundaries, especially from adopters familiar with dachshund behaviours and needs.
Ideal Home
Billie is best suited to a home that:
- Has experience with dachshunds or small breeds
- Can provide a safe, escape-proof environment
- Offers companionship—whether from another dog or a human home much of the time
- Is ready to continue her training and gently guide her as she matures
She’ll make a loyal and loving addition to the right family, and with patience and affection, she’ll return that love tenfold.
ADOPTION FEE: $1800.00
