About Buddy
Buddy is an intelligent and playful dachshund who combines independence with affection.
His bright, curious nature makes him a delightful companion, and he's already shown tremendous progress in his foster home alongside his dachshund brother Ziggy.
Personality Highlights
Buddy is very loving and affectionate to all and responds instantly to his name and the "come" command, especially when treats are involved! He is a champion walker – happily trotting along without pulling on the lead. He loves running around the house and playing with our sausage dog Ziggy, curling up on a pillow on the couch, or snuggling up under blankets.
Current Training Progress
 House Training: partially house trained, goes reliably using the yard during daytime hours and has no trouble making it through the night. He has had some accidents – mostly when his routine is thrown off (so more our fault than his own!).
 Lead Skills: Enjoys walks and does not pull. He is semi-reactive to other dogs but is show improvement. He has some anxiety in the car, but is settling more quickly with a bit of training.
 Social Skills: Making steady progress in meeting new people. Initially cautious but warms up with patience and treats. He is learning “sit” and “stay” very well, and is still working on “down”. He has not been tested with cats or children, but I would not anticipate any issues. He is anxious went left home alone or if his “favourite person” leaves, but generally settles.
Daily Care
 Diet: Thrives on Savour Life dry kibble and carrots
 Exercise: Enjoys active playtime and regular walks
 Sleep: Settles well through the night when sleeping with family
 Behaviour: No food or toy aggression, shares well with other dogs
