Darling Darla!
Alligator Creek Townsville – suitable for interstate travel
Female desexed black and tan miniature dachshund - 2yr
Darla is an absolute little sweetheart with a spark. She is cheeky, loving, entertaining, and full of life. She is not a low-energy, sit-on-the-couch dog, but rather a busy, clever companion who will keep you engaged and laughing every day. In the right home, she will be an incredibly loyal, fun, and rewarding addition to the family.
She is a confident, spirited little “pocket rocket” who is always on the move. She is energetic, playful, and incredibly curious, with a tendency to investigate everything around her. She is affectionate and loving but prefers action over sitting still and is not a typical lap dog.
She has a naturally assertive personality and likes to have a say in what’s happening around her. While not overly dominant, she is very much a “little boss” type, particularly with other dachshunds, and is happiest when she feels in charge.
Darla gets along well with other dogs when boundaries and dynamics are clear. She does well with male dachshunds and has been living successfully with larger female dogs, although she may test boundaries at times and requires appropriate supervision and management in multi-dog households. She absolutely adores children and is incredibly patient, gentle, and tolerant, making her well suited to homes with young kids.
She loves zoomies, playtime, and interactive games, and enjoys going for walks. She is starting to enjoy swimming and is gaining confidence in the water. Darla is the type of dog who will happily burn energy and then settle well once her needs have been met.
Darla is not suitable for homes with cats or small animals. She has a strong prey drive and is very clear in her belief that cats are for chasing, not befriending.
Darla would thrive in an active home that can meet her physical and mental stimulation needs. She requires daily exercise, engagement, and a secure yard, as she is fast, curious, and always ready to explore. Another dog companion could suit, provided they are comfortable with her confident and assertive nature.
Darla is crate trained and sleeps well overnight. She is toilet trained and reliably toilets outside. She has no food or toy aggression. Her recall is decent and continues to improve, although like many curious dogs she can become distracted when something interesting catches her attention. She can pull on the lead when excited and would benefit from continued training and consistency to refine her lead manners and impulse control.
Darla is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date with flea, tick, and worming treatments.
