Meet Dudley – Your New Couch Buddy & Sniffing Sidekick!

I’m a perfectly slender little sausage if I do say so myself with eyes to melt your heart. If you’re searching for a loyal companion who’s just as happy pottering in the garden as he is snuggling on the couch, then I might just be your guy.

Earlier in life I lived mostly outdoors, but I’ve discovered indoor life is pretty wonderful. I’ve taken to it quite well! I use the doggy door like a pro and love finding the sunniest spot in the garden for my morning recharge (I’m definitely solar powered ☀️). My days in foster care are a lovely mix of walks, naps, licking yoghurt pots, and keeping those cheeky lizards under control.

I’m a sweet, affectionate boy who enjoys spending time with my humans. After a play session with a squeaky toy or a soccer ball, you’ll usually find me curled up having a nap—with my cute twitchy legs going while I dream.

My Training Journey

I’m a clever boy and working hard on my manners and things, and my Foster Mom says I am a Super Star!. Right now I’m learning and practicing:


• Place training and settle • Recall • Feeling calm in the car (I can get a bit panty but I’m improving!) • Dog desensitisation on leash

I’ve also been spending one day a week visiting a home with three other dachshunds, and I’ve been settling in nicely. I’ve even played with them and eaten my dinner alongside them and joined for nap time.

I’m very polite when getting my harness and leash on, and I don’t pull on walks. Sometimes I can feel a bit nervous if something startles me and I might stop for reassurance, so I appreciate a calm human who helps me feel safe.

Meeting other dogs on leash isn’t my favourite thing right now, but we’re working on building my confidence.

I use a doggy door and sleep in my crate in the bedroom overnight. I enjoy scent games and backyard exploring as well as just being part of the household routine

I’m a delicate little nibbler, so small pieces are best and I like your company while I eat.  I’m a slow eater, so other dogs shouldn’t steal my dinner!
• I love treat hide-and-seek games

I’m a sensitive soul, so sometimes big hand gestures or loud voices can make me nervous, which may cause the occasional nervous wee. I’m improving every day with calm guidance and routine and almost aced my toilet traing.

I’d do best with someone experienced who understands nervous dogs and can continue helping me build confidence so I will become the BEST BOY ever.

My perfect home would have:
• No children under 12
• Either an only-dog home or a calm dog with an experienced owner who is happy to continue my training gently and consistently.
• A garden to sniff and patrol (bonus points!) and a a loving routine filled with affection and fun.

• Neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated;  Flea/tick treated and wormed;  Recently had a dental clean
