MEET HENRY - A Beautiful Boy that has a lot of Love to Give !

ABOUT HENRY - Henry is a big lovable boy, that does take time to
trust, but once you have his trust he is a beautiful Snuggle bug. He
has adapted well in his Foster environment which has seen him part of
a Pack of up to 10 Dachshunds, very well. He is submissive to the
other dogs and has shown no signs of aggression. Because of his size,
which he does have a little more weight to come off, he can sometimes
not know his size when playing, but he is quick to remedy once
corrected!

He is wary of strangers, and his new home has to be patient but firm
here, as he has some trauma and has a genuine fear of men.
However with patience he is adapting and trusting, and becomes a face
magnet to everyone he learns to accept, always wanting constant face
kisses :)

PERSONALITY HIGHLIGHTS - Henry is extremely smart. He is young and
genuinely wants to please, but needs consistent guiding and training
here.
He understands basic commands, sit, stay and learning the world "
gentle" when accepting food.
He sleeps in a bed with his foster carer, and is very settled all
night, but once he knows you're awake its face kisses galore!

CURRENT TRAINING PROGRESS -Henry had not lived in doors before, so he
is still learning toileting, and will go inside on a puppy pad most
times, but in cases of fear, usually around strange men, or loud
voices he may wet himself slightly, this however is greatly improving
and as he is learning in a pack environment he is also learning toilet
habits from the other dogs by going outside. He will need consistent
encouragement here to toilet outside, but he is a very smart boy!

He is regularly walked and taken to a dog park. He is quite reactive
to other dogs when on leash, but settles off leash.
His Foster carer has been walking him most of the time in the evenings
by himself and he has shown huge improvement in his lead manners,
again he had very little or none lead training when coming into Foster
so consistent training again here is needed.

DAILY CARE

Diet: Henry is currently on a small varied breakfast of either a
chicken neck, raw beef, or raw chicken and vegies, and a larger
portion for dinner. He came into Foster at 11.9kg and is currently
9.8kg, and ideally should be between 7-8kg, so monitoring his weight
and diet is super important, as he is still growing :)

Exercise: Enjoys active playtime, he does zoomies in the backyard and
around the house with his foster siblings, often the one being chased
! and regular walks as well as chasing birds of the fence.
He is not overly stimulated by Toys, so has no resource guarding of
toys or food, but he will always be the first to finish and does not
try to go to the other dogs bowls, is very respectful here.

Henry would flourish in a home that offers:

*Someone who has the time and patience for him, he is definitely worth it !
*A calm, structured environment where the owner is home most of the time.
*Canine companionship, as he enjoys the company of other dogs
*A secure yard for exercise and bathroom breaks

· Understanding that he needs time to warm up to new people- Men
in the Household will need to know that he is reactive, so gentle
introductions are needed.
