Henry is a reserved and gentle dachshund with a quiet soul and a heart full of love. He may be cautious when meeting new people, but once you've earned his trust, his affection is unwavering. Loyal and devoted, Henry forms deep, meaningful bonds with his humans. He has come a long way in his foster home, where he lives harmoniously with two dachshund foster brothers. His calm, affectionate presence makes him an incredibly rewarding companion for the right family.

Personality Highlights
Henry is a sweet, clever little man who responds well to his name and the “come” command—especially when treats are involved! While he enjoys exploring the yard on his own, he loves nothing more than curling up beside you for a cuddle.

Henry takes his cues from his humans and needs a calm, confident owner who can offer steady reassurance. He may bark at strangers or unfamiliar noises, but with a gentle voice and presence, he soon settles. Once bonded, Henry adores his people—he’s the ultimate snuggle bug who will sneak in a cheeky kiss and snuggle into your side any chance he gets. 

Current Living Situation
Henry is thriving in his foster home with two friendly male dachshunds, and he absolutely needs another dog in his new home for confidence and companionship. He was significantly overweight when he arrived—his foster carer affectionately described him as resembling a loaf of bread!—but with daily walks and a healthy diet, he’s steadily slimming down and feeling better every day.

He’s wonderful with children and currently lives with kids aged 4, 6, and 9. He also lives with cats—he did chase them at first, but with time and routine has improved significantly. Homes with rabbits, guinea pigs, or other small animals may not be suitable.

Training Progress
• House Training: Progressing well. He reliably uses the yard during the day and is learning nighttime routines
• Lead Skills: Enjoys walks and car rides; walks on lead like a perfect little gentleman
• Social Skills: Cautious at first, but gentle and affectionate once comfortable
• Behaviour: Calm, loving, and shows no food or toy aggression

• Diet: Enjoys a combination of fresh chilled dog food and Hill’s Perfect Weight Small & Mini Adult Dry Dog Food
• Exercise: Loves getting out for a walk, but is equally happy with playtime in the yard. Will need consistent exercise to continue his weight loss journey .
• Sleep: Settles well overnight, especially when snuggled up with his humans
• Routine: Thrives with structure, patience, and a steady, nurturing environment
