Meet Me – Lucy
A gentle, loving little dachshund hoping to finally find my forever home.
Quick Facts About Me
I’m a tan, smooth-haired miniature dachshund, 4 years old and around 6kg.
My Story
I came into the care of Devoted 2 Dachshunds Rescue in August 2025, when I came down with IVDD and needed surgery, D2DR took me in, operated on me and fully rehabilitated me. With time, patience, and wonderful care, I’ve blossomed into a bright, happy girl who adores people and wants nothing more than to be someone’s loyal little companion.
And there’s one thing you should know about me I absolutely love water. Splashing, chasing, biting at it, it fills me with pure joy.
My Personality
I’m gentle, affectionate, and happiest curled up beside someone I trust. I don’t bark much at home, though I’ll speak up around bigger dogs at the park. I get along beautifully with dachshunds and smaller breeds. I enjoy their company, even if I’m more of a quiet companion than a rough-and-tumble playmate. I also have a favourite toy that I like to carry around just for comfort.
My Training & Manners
House Trained: Fully house trained and confident with a doggy door.
Out & About: I enjoy my walks and absolutely love car rides.
Social Skills: I’m calm at home but do bark at larger dogs on walks or at the park.
My Daily Life
Food: I’m currently eating Big Dog BARF and lightly cooked human grade beef
mince. I’m not a fan of dry kibble.
Sleep: I settle beautifully at night snuggled into my bed or, if you let me, curled
beside you. I’m an expert burrower.
Behaviour: I share well and have no food or toy aggression.
My Ideal Home
As an IVDD survivor, I need a single-level home with no stairs and no jumping. Ramps or soft steps must be provided for couches or beds.
I’d flourish in a calm, loving environment, either as your only dog or with another small, friendly companion. I’d suit a quiet family with older children (6+) and a secure yard for daily pottering.
My Health
IVDD survivor, fully recovered with only a slight occasional hunch
Desexed Microchipped Fully vaccinated Flea & tick treated Vet checked
