Meet Luna: A Sweet & Loving Dachshund Seeking Her Forever Home

About Luna

Luna is a pretty, intelligent and playful dachshund who combines independence with affection. Her bright, curious nature makes her a delightful companion and she's already shown tremendous progress in her foster home alongside her dachshund and staffy siblings.

Personality Highlights

Luna is a sweet girl who enjoys snuggling on the couch and snoozing with her humans and 4 legged siblings. She loves playing with her toys, water play and getting belly rubs. Luna is happiest when her human is around as she suffers from separation anxiety. Luna may take a minute to warm up to new people/surroundings but once settled, comes out of her shell and will be your faithful curious shadow.

Current Training Progress

• House Training:  Fully house trained.

• Lead Skills: Luna has had very little experience on the lead and will need training to be comfortable walking and not tangling herself as she goes.

• Social Skills: Making steady progress in meeting new people. Initially cautious but warms up with patience and treats. She likes to bark quite loudly to let you know that new people have walked into the room but will settle after a minute or two. Luna would benefit from obedience training.

• Travel:  Luna is slowly getting used to car travel but prefers sitting up front with her favourite human.

Daily Care

• Diet: Has been enjoying Blackhawk All Breeds kibble for breakfast and Tucker Tub cooked and raw food for dinner. She is currently on a diet to get her weight down. She is a fast eater and will try to eat her siblings meals if not supervised! Luna loves fresh fruit and veges.

• Exercise: Enjoys active playtime and daily walks.

• Sleep: Settles well + sleeps through the night in bed with her foster humans + fur siblings.

• Behaviour: No food or toy aggression and shares well with other dogs. Can be a little clingy and will cry when her favourite human leaves her sight but this should settle as she feels comfortable and secure in her new home.

Luna would flourish in a home that offers:

• Patient owners committed to continuing her socialisation and obedience journey.

• Owner/s that work from home or retired –suffers from separation anxiety and does not like to be left alone, even with her foster siblings for company.

• A calm, structured environment.

• Respectful children 15+

• Canine companionship, as she enjoys the company of other dogs.

• A secure yard for exercise and bathroom breaks.

• Understanding that she needs time to warm up to new people.
