Opie: Your Pint-Sized, Affectionate Shadow (North Richmond NSW)

2-year-old black and tan short-haired miniature male dachshund 5.5kg

Aren’t I just the cutest boy you have ever seen – almost pocket sized. While I may be mini in stature, I am certainly not miniature in personality and charm! My foster mom loves me! If you are looking for a smart, loving, and loyal shadow to fill your lap and your heart and home – I am your man.

I am a very clever and affectionate companion who thrives on closeness. I love nothing more than a cuddle, and I am great at it—I put my paws on your chest and my head right up next to yours for a nuzzle. Be prepared for me to become your shadow, following you everywhere you go. When it comes to affection, I like to be front of the line, but I am cheeky and gentle when muscling in for a pat if I don’t get there first!

Despite my young age, I have already made incredible progress in my training. My foster mom says I am amazing – one of the best she has ever had! I enjoy my daily walks and have learned to meet other dogs and humans on the lead without barking. I play well with other dogs when we visit the dog park. Rope Toys! My Best - I love a good rope tussle and enjoy chewing on my assortment of ropetoys.

I have no food or toy aggression and patiently wait my turn for treats and meals. I am also fully house trained during the day and go outside to toilet. If I sleep right in the bed with my humans, there are no accidents at all. I am still learning how to sleep in another room without having accidents overnight – guess that tells you where I should be.

I like going out in the car and enjoy trips to Bunnings where everyone thinks I am SUPER cute and I got lots of pats!

While I can be quite timid when meeting new people who come to the house, I am quickly won over with reassurance and lots of love. I came from being an only dog, but happy now living with a a cat and have enjoy my foster sister (10yr old Dalmatian).

My Ideal Home

I am ready for a family home with a structured routine and plenty of exercise.

A family where there is someone home more often than not would be best for me.

My ideal situation might also include another older female dog who can show me the ropes and help me continue to build my confidence with gentle socialisation.
