About Poppy

Poppy is an intelligent, sweet, friendly and playful dachshund who will give you lots of affection. Her bright, friendly nature makes her a delightful companion, and she already showed amazing progress in her foster home alongside a dachshund and a pomeranian.

Personality Highlights

Poppy knows all her basic commands, she responds quickly to her name, she is a quick learner especially when treats are involved! While she can be independent and enjoys exploring the yard on her own, she also loves snuggling on the couch and sleeping in bed with her foster humans. She is very easy going and is happy to just lay next to you during the day on a chair or nearby if you are working from home, or you’ll find her outside sunbaking. When she is left alone she is either playing with her foster brothers or having a nap. On the weekends she is your little shadow, always interested in what is going on around her. She enjoys going on walks and enjoying time with her foster humans. She is a vocal little girl when she lets you know when she would like cuddles and is very excited when you come home and you’ll know she is when you hear her squeals. 
Poppy is friendly with small children, dachshunds and plays with other dogs.

Current Training Progress

●      House Training: Well on her way to being fully house trained. She is in a new environment but has been good with going to the bathroom in the morning, midday and nighttime when she has access to the yard 

●      Lead Skills: Enjoys walks and is okay with car rides. Just needs to do a few more car rides to get used to being in one spot. 

●      Social Skills: Is a little nervous when meeting new people but warms up with patience and treats. 

Daily Care

●      Diet: Currently has 80g of Royal Canin mini dog biscuits for both meals and Nosh chicken or beef for dinner. Daily dental stick along with some small treats 

●      Exercise: Enjoys regular walks and zooming around with her dachshund foster brother

●      Sleep: Settles well through the night when sleeping with family

●      Behaviour: No food or toy aggression, shares well with other dogs
