Meet Scruffy – 1.5year old Professional Snuggler & Adventure Buddy 🐾❤️

If you’re looking for a dachshund who takes cuddling very seriously, Scruffy is ready to apply for the role! His number one hobby? Claiming your lap as his personal movie seat and making sure you never watch Netflix alone again. 🎬🥰

But don’t be fooled — this little guy also has an adventurous streak! Scruffy loves hopping in the car and heading out to explore new places. Whether it’s a quick outing or a weekend wander, he’s happiest when he’s by your side.

Scruffy is still a young pup with a big personality and lots to learn about the world! 🌎 He’s a clever little sponge, soaking up new experiences and picking up skills along the way — especially when snacks are involved! He’s still learning his walking manners, including how to stay calm when exciting things catch his eye and when it’s appropriate to use his very own dachshund announcement system. 📣😂 After all, he’s a sausage dog with opinions, and sometimes he just needs a little reminder that not everything needs a comment! With patience, positive reinforcement and consistent training, he’s making progress and has plenty of potential to keep blossoming.

His love of food has been a great help in improving his on-leash manners, and he’s also making lovely progress with his toileting. He just needs a little encouragement, a predictable routine and someone willing to help him navigate the big wide world as he grows into his best self.

As a Wire Hair dachshund, Scruffy has a naturally strong prey drive and loves having things to investigate. Sniffing, exploring, chasing toys and using his clever little brain are all important parts of keeping him happy. He would thrive in a home with a large, secure yard where he can stretch his little legs, explore safely and enjoy plenty of playtime, alongside daily walks, enrichment and adventures. Apartment living or a busy inner-city environment wouldn’t be the right fit for this country boy — he needs room to roam, space to explore and a lifestyle that suits his instincts.

At home, Scruffy enjoys the finer things in life: sunbaking like a pro, playing chase with his foster dachshund siblings and, of course… sleeping in the big bed. (Yes, he fully expects VIP access to your blankets. No exceptions. 🛏️🤣)

He gets along well with other dachshunds and would absolutely love another sausage buddy to play with, making him a lovely addition to a home with a friendly fellow long dog.

He is also great with smaller breed dogs, but is untested with larger breeds of dogs.

He’s also friendly with respectful children who understand that even the cuddliest little gentleman sometimes needs his space.

Scruffy is looking for a calm, structured home with a secure yard, where his family understands that he’s still learning and is happy to guide him with kindness, consistency and a sense of humour. He’ll need continued support with his walking manners, excitement and vocal enthusiasm, but in return, you’ll get a loyal, loving, slightly cheeky companion who will fill your days with laughter and your nights with cuddles.

He may be a little work in progress, but that’s part of the magic of growing up! ❤️
