’m a 4-year-old red smooth Dachshund and, like many of my breed, I’m a big dog in a small body. I take my job as household lookout very seriously, so you might hear me announcing a rustle in the garden or someone at the door. I like to make sure my people know what’s going on! My foster mom says I am a true vocalist!

Once my security duties are done though, I’m really just a cuddle bug. One of my favourite things in the world is burrowing into a warm lap and spending some quality bonding time with my humans. I’m very affectionate and love being close to the people I trust.

I get along well with other dogs, especially those who are similar in size and have a calm nature like me. I just need a little time and a gentle introduction to get to know new friends before we become part of the same pack.

I’m also a pro on the lead, which makes me a wonderful walking buddy. If you enjoy getting out for daily strolls, I’m always happy to come along. When my humans are active, I love to join in—walks, beach outings, and even a good dig in the sandpit are all things I enjoy. Car rides used to make me a bit unsure, but I’m getting more confident every day and learning that they often lead to fun adventures.

One thing about me is that I take my mealtimes quite seriously. I prefer to eat in my own quiet space without interruptions, so a home that can give me a calm spot for dinner time would suit me perfectly.

I would love a home with adults or calm, gentle children, where someone is around most of the time. Having a relaxed doggy companion around my size would also be lovely.
