I’m a funny, affectionate dachshund with personality for days and a heart full of love, I might just be your perfect match I’m an amazing boy, a little on the heavy side - I’m affectionately known as “Turkey Roll” (rude but accurate ��), and I’m currently on a diet program that my future family will need to continue so I can be my healthiest, happiest self – I have already lost 1.5kg with good food and exercise!
I’m a clever, playful boy who enjoys a nice balance of independence and affection. I’ve been living in foster care with two dachshunds and two labradors, and I’ve shown just how adaptable and social I can be when given time and understanding. We even have a kitten I don’t mind.
What Makes Me Me!
I’m a quick learner… but I do have a bit of that classic dachshund sass. I respond well to my name, though the “come” command can sometimes be… optional — especially if I’m enjoying a morning sleep-in. Treats, however, instantly activate my listening ears!
I enjoy pottering around the yard on my own, following interesting smells and doing a bit of exploring, but I’m also a big fan of couch cuddles and playing with the “big kids” in the family. Don’t let my sturdy build fool you — when I’m motivated, I’m surprisingly fast and love a good hunt for rats on the farm.
When I’m not feeling particularly inspired by a command, I might plonk myself on my butt or retreat under a bed — it’s nothing personal, just my independent dachshund spirit shining through.
Other Animals & My World
I’ve shown little interest in chickens, but small birds do catch my eye, so I’d say I have a medium prey drive. That said, I absolutely adore my cat and kitten friends and have always been gentle and respectful with them. I really enjoy living with other animals and would love to have furry siblings in my forever home.
My Training Journey
I’m well on my way to being fully house trained and reliably use the yard during the day. I’d probably thrive with a doggy door. Occasionally, if I get frightened or chased while being ushered outside, I might have a small accident — I’m sensitive like that.
I enjoy walks and car rides, though I do tire a bit quickly at the moment (working on that fitness!). I like meeting new people and dogs, but I can be a little stand-offish at first and may feel nervous around very high-energy or pushy dogs. With calm introductions, I settle nicely.
My Daily Life
I’m currently enjoying homemade wet food (yum!), regular walks, and active playtime.
I love exploring the garden with my nose leading the way. At night, I settle beautifully and sleep in my pen with another dachshund — companionship really helps me feel secure.
I’m polite around food and toys and share happily with other dogs.
