Hello there… we’re Jemma and Hunter, a devoted dachshund duo with big hearts, waggy tails, and a story that’s brought us closer than ever. 

We arrived into care after some rather unfortunate circumstances and both had to go through treatment for heartworm and many other . It took time, patience, and lots of love—but look at us now! We’re happy, healthy, heartworm-free, and ready to find the forever home we’ve been dreaming about.

I’m Jemma, the smaller one in this partnership, but don’t let my size fool you. I’m a passionate little girl who loves toys, balls, and anything that lets me show off my hunting instincts. I’ll be honest—I’m also the boss of this operation. I keep my man Hunter in line with a firm paw… though I make up for it with plenty of kisses and cuddles. (Oh, and cats? Definitely not my thing.)

And I’m Hunter, the laid-back half of this duo. Personal space? Never heard of it. If you’re nearby, I’m probably leaning on you, sitting on you, or snuggling into you. I’m pretty relaxed about most things—including cats—and while hunting isn’t really my passion, I’m always happy to follow Gemma’s lead if she decides it’s time for an adventure.

Together we’re a perfect yin and yang. Our personalities are different, but we’re completely devoted to each other and you’ll often find us curled up together like two little sausages in a blanket.

Our dream home would be one where someone is around most of the time and wants us to be part of everyday life. We’re big fans of walks, car rides, beach trips, field adventures, and of course couch snuggles. We walk nicely on our harnesses and leads and have recently started getting back into gentle exercise. Hunter especially loves a swim when the opportunity arises!

We’re incredibly affectionate and generally get along well with other dogs when introductions are done properly. In busy park situations we can be a little protective (classic dachshund style!), but visiting dog friends are always welcomed once we know them.

At night, our favourite place is tucked under the blankets beside our humans, though we can sleep in our own beds if we absolutely must. During the day you’ll find us happily destroying fluffy toys, soaking up sunshine outside, or simply watching the world go by.

Our foster mum says we’re the sweetest, most loving pair, and we’re ready to share all that love with a family of our own.
