Personality
Sarge is the definition of a cuddler. Whether you're sitting down or lying on the bed, he'll be right there with you, often with his arms sweetly wrapped around your neck. If he feels you're not giving him enough attention, he'll let you know with the gentlest woof that will melt your heart. Though initially reactive to new people, noises, and other dogs (typical of Dachshunds), once comfortable, all he wants is love and playtime.
Play & Exercise
- Absolutely loves tug-of-war games
- Enjoys playing with the garden hose (and doesn't mind getting wet!)
- Enthusiastic about fetch with tennis balls and squeaky toys
- Loves his walks and exploring (he'll even carry his leash to the door when he's ready to go)
Family Life
Sarge has proven to be an affectionate and protective companion to a 1-year-old child. He's currently learning gentle manners when taking food from small hands. While he adores food (warning: he'll finish his meals in under 2 minutes!), he's also learning that jumping up to steal food from plates isn't acceptable behavior.
Sleeping Arrangements
Though he'd prefer sleeping in your bed, Sarge does well in his crate overnight. For best results, lure him in with a treat or pick him up for a goodnight snuggle and kiss before covering the crate with a blanket to create a dark, safe sleeping environment.
