Oscars Story
Oscar is just one of the hundreds of Dachshunds surrendered to D2DR. The reasons dogs are surrendered vary from Divorce, Rental Crisis, No Health Insurance or the money for surgery to sadly even Death of a family member.
We don't discriminate - we accept all Dachshunds - Oscar is a perfect example - His owners are in their 90's and when he went down with IVDD - they knew they could not manage the work to rehabilitate him but more importantly they did not have the cash to pay for surgery.
So D2DR accepted him sent him to ARH for Spinal Surgery then placed him with a foster carer for rehab. At this stage he is doing a lot better and without your support it couldn't happen.

Becoming a Foster Carer
The other area that we constantly need help with is Foster Carers, the other side of #nodachshundleftbehind is needing Foster Carers to take the dogs.
Our Foster Carers are incredible and put their hand up every time there is a dog that needs help, but we always could do with more help.
