Hi, I’m Jordy

I may not be the boy who rushes up to greet you when we first meet. I can be shy and anxious, and sometimes the world feels like a pretty big and scary place to me. But please, give me a chance. As a stray, not registered, my history is unknown, but I am a HIDDEN GEM according to my foster family.

 Underneath that timid little exterior is a gorgeous boy just waiting to feel safe enough to show you who he really is. Once I trust you, I’m a completely different dog.  I’m a cuddly, playful little goofball who loves being with my people. I love my toys — especially squeakers and stuffing, although I must admit they don't usually survive my enthusiastic playtime! I have also learnt that I love the company of small calm breeds. Big Dogs and Men frighten me – must be something from my unknown past.

My favourite place is wherever my person is but ok on my own if I have other fur friends. I’d happily snuggle up in bed with you, but I’m also perfectly happy in my own crate with my favourite blankie.

I’m still learning some of the things that other dogs seem to know naturally. House training is one of those things, so I need a family who understands that I’m still finding my feet and will continue helping me with patience, consistency and lots of positive encouragement. But I improve every day and almost there.

I’m a clever little guy and I enjoy learning, especially when tasty treats are involved! But the biggest thing I’m learning isn’t a trick or a command. I’m learning to trust.

And for a rescue dog like me, learning that the world can be a safe place is a pretty big achievement. I don’t need a perfect family. I need a patient loving family.

Someone who won't give up on me because I’m nervous at first. Someone who will let me take things at my own pace. Someone who will celebrate the little wins with me — the first time I come for a cuddle, the first time I confidently explore something new, the first time I look at you and know without a doubt that I’m safe.

Because when I finally trust you, I’ll give you something incredibly special in return. My whole heart.

Jordie is looking for a calm, patient home where he can continue to build his confidence and learn that he is safe, loved and wanted. He may need a little more time than some dogs, but we promise you, the love and loyalty you earn from this boy when he has learned to trust you is something very, very special.
