I’m a handsome boy looking for a very special family to call my own. I’ve had a bit of a difficult start to life, and unfortunately my past is something I can’t tell you about. Because of this, I can be quite anxious and unsure when I meet new people or find myself somewhere unfamiliar. I don’t instantly trust everyone, but I’m learning every day that people can be kind and that I’m safe now.

I’m a loving, loyal boy who absolutely adores my person and happily live and play with my fur foster siblings. I am very friendly with small breeds, but big breeds scare me and I am very reactive (my foster mom thinks it was because I could have been attacked or chased). Once I know you and feel safe with you, I love nothing more than cuddling up beside you and being close. I’m the kind of boy who wants to be part of your world. 

I just need someone who understands that trust takes time. Give me gentle introductions, patience and reassurance, and you’ll get to see the sweet, affectionate boy underneath my initial nerves and I am super smart too – picking up instructions and games etc. very quickly. 

I’m also quite the little watchdog! I like to keep an eye on what’s happening around me and will let you know when something catches my attention. Once I’m settled, though, I’m happiest relaxing with my humans.

And when it’s time to have fun, bring out the squeaky toys! 🧸 I absolutely love them and can happily entertain myself with a good toy for ages.

 I’m reliably toilet trained and happily use the yard. I can also use potty pads indoors when needed and doggy door too!

I enjoy going for walks and taking in new smalls but new environments can make me anxious, so I need someone who will let me take things at my own pace.

 I’m not showing significant food aggression, but sensible supervision around meals is always recommended.I settle nicely at night and am happy sleeping with my family or in my crate.

I’m looking for someone who will love me for who I am and give me the time I need to blossom.

A calm and structured home would suit me best, with a secure yard and, ideally, someone who is home most of the day. Having my person nearby helps me feel safe and reassured.

I may not be the boy who runs straight up to every stranger with a wagging tail, but please don’t mistake my nervousness for a lack of love.

There is a very affectionate little Dachshund heart underneath it all, just waiting for someone special to show me that I am safe, loved and finally home. 

If you’re patient, kind and looking for a loyal little shadow who will adore you once his trust is earned, I might just be your boy.
