If you’re looking for a little dachshund who will happily become your warm, cuddly shadow, then Marty might just be your boy! 🥰

Marty is a sensitive little soul with a huge heart. Once he feels safe and comfortable, he wants nothing more than to shower his people with kisses, cuddles and dachshund love. He will need a family who understands that settling into a new home takes time, patience and plenty of reassurance.

Marty would love a calm, quiet home with at least one other small, confident dog to help him feel safe and show him the ropes. Big dogs can feel overwhelming for him, so small-dog company is definitely his preference.

While Marty is best suited to a home without children, he has shown that respectful younger children can be okay when introductions are calm and he is given space to settle.

🏡 Life with Marty

Marty is a very good boy when it comes to his home skills. He is:

🐾 Crate trained 🐾 Toilet trained 🐾 Doggy-door trained – and very speedy through it! 🐾 Comfortable sleeping in his crate with his sibling or by himself 🐾 A BIG fan of sleeping under the covers on his parents’ bed – because, obviously, he’s a dachshund! 😂

When he’s not snuggled up with his people, Marty enjoys basking in the sunshine, zooming around the garden, playing with his toys and catching up on his very important dachshund naps. ☀️🧸💤

Marty can be a little wary of men and may bark while he works out whether someone is a friend. A new male in his household will need to give him the time and space to build trust at his own pace.

He can also feel anxious during the first few days or weeks in a new environment, so his forever family will need to be patient while he learns his new routine. Once he knows he is safe, his sweet and affectionate personality starts to shine.

🚶‍♂️ Walkies are a work in progress

Marty will need continued confidence-building and lead training. He can be a little unsure initially, but once he gets going — especially with his doggy mate beside him — he walks well.

Marty isn't looking for a family who expects him to be confident from day one. He’s looking for someone who will give him time, encouragement and plenty of love while he discovers just how wonderful his new life can be. ❤️
