Although I am drop dead gorgeous and seriously handsome according to my foster
family, I’m a shy little guy at first, but once I come out of my shell, I’m playful,
affectionate, and full of love. I really enjoy playing with my dachshund foster siblings, even the new puppies which joined us 9 weeks ago, although sometimes all the excitement can get a bit overwhelming for me, so I like having my own quiet space where I can rest and recharge.
Like a true dachshund, I can be a little bit of a snob — honestly, I think dachshunds are the best breed and I’d much prefer a home with other sausage dogs only. Young kids can sometimes feel a bit scary and unpredictable to me too, so I’d be happiest in a calm home with older children or adults who understand my gentle nature.
I’m generally a very quiet boy and rarely bark unless another dog starts it first. I am also ok with the 3 cats which live with us. They call dogs like me unicorns. One of my favourite hobbies is doing zoomies around the chicken coop while telling the
chickens exactly who’s boss… although if I’m being honest, I’d probably try to eat
one if I got the chance. Not the biggest fan!
At bedtime, I happily walk straight into my crate and settle down for the night like a good boy. I also wouldn’t mind sleeping in bed with you either — but you should
know I come with some surprisingly loud snoring for such a little sausage dog! Once I’m comfortable in my new home, I’ll happily curl up on your lap every chance I get as I am a real snuggle bunny.
I am housetrained and pretty much mastered the doggy door but I do sometimes like to hold onto my bladder a little too long, so I may need a gentle reminder to head outside for toilet breaks.
I absolutely love veggies and take my role as kitchen supervisor very seriously. If you accidentally drop some cucumber or carrot while cooking, don’t worry — I’ll clean it up immediately. I have lovely manners around food, don’t show any food aggression, and I’m very respectful when eating around the other dogs.
I am awesome on a lead, sleep like a baby in the car. All in all I am an easy loving
boy and all I really want is a patient, loving home that will let me settle in at my own pace ideally with another sausage or two!
Once I trust you, you’ll have a loyal little shadow, expert lap warmer, and a very
handsome sausage dog best friend for life.
