Hi, meet Ruby!

Ruby is a sweet black and tan smooth miniature dachshund. She is a gentle, loving and cuddly girl who adores being with her favourite humans. 

Ruby is a smart girl and quick learner. She responds immediately to her name being called on most occasions and has learnt to use a ramp onto the couch and a doggy door like a pro.  

Ruby’s foster family has found her to be an absolute delight to have around. She has thrived on love and affection, and is a loyal and happy dog. Ruby has lived her life as a solo dog. Whilst she has relished the companionship of her foster brothers, also dachshunds, she is highly reactive to other dogs when out walking on lead or in public in general. She will require her new owner to understand her fears and be committed to working with her to realise that she does not need to be so fearful or reactive. She is a little wary of strangers at first but warms up to them quickly as soon as she realises they are friendly. 

Personality Highlights:

● She has some anxiety when her humans leave the house, exhibited by crying, but this soon settles down and she is happy to be with the other dogs. She has not been tested home alone.

Current Training Progress:

● House Training: Ruby is fully house trained with the use of a doggy door.

● Lead Skills: Ruby had limited opportunities to walk in her former home, as such, she tends to wander and explore a lot when walking rather than focussing on the job at hand. She does love to walk though and will likely improve substantially with a new owner willing to help her.

● Social Skills: Happy to live with other dogs with the right introduction. Aggressive to other dogs, will need training and time to address this.
