Magic Milo

• Chocolate merle, short-haired male Dachshund x Catahoula - • 6 months old• 8kg

Milo is the kind of dog who will give you his whole heart. He’s affectionate, clever, and full of life—a puppy who will make you laugh, keep you active, and reward your patience with deep loyalty and love and become a lifelong companion.

Milo is a bright, affectionate, high-energy puppy who is learning the ropes of the world one day at a time. He’s currently catching up on socialisation, building confidence, and learning his boundaries—and he’s doing a wonderful job with the right guidance.

Loyal, eager, and full of potential, Milo is a little whirlwind with a huge heart. With continued support, he’s on track to grow into a confident, well-rounded companion.

Milo is a unique blend of Dachshund devotion and Catahoula energy—meaning he brings both snuggly affection and a lively zest for life.

He absolutely adores his people. The moment he sees you, his whole-body wiggles with excitement, and he’ll happily melt into you for cuddles once the initial excitement settles. He thrives on connection and closeness, always wanting to be near his trusted humans.

That said, Milo is still very much a puppy. Expect some cheeky moments—occasional nipping, attention-seeking cries, and bursts of over-the-top play. He’s learning quickly, but he’ll need ongoing guidance to help him channel all that enthusiasm into good behaviour.

He’s also building confidence being on his own, with short separation practice helping him feel more secure and independent.

Milo has been living with another male Dachshund and is learning how to share space and play appropriately. While they’re getting used to each other, Milo can get a bit boisterous, so supervised play and regular breaks are important.

He can be cautious with strangers, especially in new situations or when people enter the home. He may bark initially but settles once he realises everything is okay. With people he knows, he is incredibly affectionate and trusting.

Busy or overwhelming environments—like young children or large gatherings—can be a bit much for him right now. However, he’s already showing great progress when introductions are slow, calm, and positive.

• House Training: Nearly there! Milo uses a doggy door independently and usually takes himself outside. He may need a little help in the early mornings when excitement gets the better of him.

• Lead Skills: Enjoys walks and car rides. Currently working on staying calm when passing people and other dogs.

• Social Skills: Still developing, but improving quickly with positive, controlled exposure.

• Exercise: Needs around 2 hours of physical and mental activity daily—walks, playtime, enrichment

• Sleep: Settles well overnight in his own bed or on the couch in a separate room

• Behaviour: Playful and social, learning to share toys and regulate excitement
